"Ellen Rowe has produced an excellent recording, SYLVAN WAY, that showcases her immense talents as a composer and pianist. Ellen's original creations possess lyricism and harmonic surprises that take no back seat next to the standard material presented. The program is nicely balanced with swinging tunes, Latin flavors and caresses the listener with lush romantic moods. Ellen assembles three excellent rhythm sections with one horn to accompany her. Stellar bassist, John Clayton, is featured with his bow on Rowe's hauntingly beautiful ballad, HYMN. This CD definitely invites repeated listening. Enjoy, SYLVAN WAY, as I have. BRAVO Ms. Rowe!"  Rufus Reid, Bassist

"Sylvan Way", a new CD by pianist Ellen Rowe, is a collection of standards and originals performed by her trio, which includes bassist Paul Keller and drummer Pete Siers. Saxophonist Andrew Bishop is featured on 3 of the selections and other collaborating artists include John Clayton, Joe LaBarbera, Dan Kolton and Tom Brown. Standard tunes on the album include "Love Is Here To Stay", "It Could Happen To You" and "Shadow of Your Smile". In his liner notes, Richard Crawford, Director of the American Musical Institute and Professor of Music History at the University of Michigan states: "The album offers a revealing portrait of Ellen Rowe; a composer who is also a polished, engaging player and a woman whose playing reflects her life experience."
