Bossa nova, be-bop, mambo, minor swing, samba, ballads and jazz standards with four original compositions make up Paul VornHagen's second CD on the BOPO label and fifth jazz CD as a leader. "Heart" is filled with soulful and passionate performances that include piano, bass, drums, congas, bongos, percussion, timbales, vibes and Paul on alto, tenor, soprano and baritone saxes, flute, ocarina and vocals.

A rich and varied outing, check out pianist Tad Weed's sensitive accompaniment and inventive soloing. The rythymn section of Kurt Krahnke and Pete Siers is tight and swinging. Percussionist Jonathan Ovalle, a vibes solo on Firefly by Cary Kocher, bassist Nick Calandro and drummer Randy Marsh on two additional cuts are added to the stellar lineup.
